Prime Therapeutics is a local sponsor of the 2020 Twin Cities VIRTUAL Heart Walk

Prime Therapeutics (Prime) is a sponsor of the Twin Cities Heart Walk to be held on May 16. Due to social distancing measures in Minnesota, this year’s event will be virtual. But four dedicated Prime teams comprised of about 70 employees will raise money needed to help fund lifesaving science for heart disease and stroke research. In 2019, Prime employees raised more than $45,000 in Heart Walk donations.

In addition to raising funds to save lives, this year Prime is a sponsor of Heart Walk’s Family Fun Night scavenger hunt. Prime designed an original, downloadable kids’ activity book featuring heart health fun facts and offering ideas for active games and healthy-heart snacks. Download the activity book.

Since 2008, Prime has participated in Heart Walk to celebrate survivors and honor those lost to cardiovascular disease. This event is one component of its PrimeCares community giving and service program. PrimeCares helps Prime employees improve their communities through volunteering and direct giving and matching donations to five health-focused charity partners. Last year, Prime gave more than $344,000 to its partners and for the first time, it designated funds for a natural disaster relief program that benefitted regions impacted by flooding and hurricanes.

Lauren Mitrenga, who leads the PrimeCares program said, “It’s always gratifying to see Prime employees step up to improve their communities and the lives of others, but even more so during this time of uncertainty. Though we can’t all be together in one place, our teams are united in their quest to fund research that can help people live longer and healthier lives.”

“I’m walking to celebrate my dad, a multiple heart attack and heart disease survivor,” said Angela Robinette, manager, corporate events for Prime. “Having led efforts for Prime’s Fun Zone booth and mascot races for the past seven years, I’ve experienced firsthand that Twin Cities Heart Walk is one community event our whole company rallies around and looks forward to. This year it’s even more meaningful to my family and me to walk with my dad.”

Prime is also sponsoring the Greater Omaha Virtual Heart & Stroke Walk on May 30, and the New Mexico Heart Walk on June 13, when teams of walkers will support the events in full force.
