Last year, an estimated 2 million people were diagnosed with cancer, according to the American Association for Cancer Research.¹ Each person’s experience, although united by a diagnosis, looks different and requires a different approach.  

Prime Therapeutics (Prime) joins the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in honoring World Cancer Day — a global awareness day dedicated to bringing attention, improving education and initiating action toward life-saving cancer treatment.  

Since 2000, World Cancer Day — held annually on Feb. 4 — has gathered hospitals, health care organizations, providers, prescribers, patients and community-focused organizations to reduce the international impact of cancer. This year’s theme “United by Unique” is part of a three-year campaign that emphasizes that every case of cancer is personal and individual, encouraging health care workers to focus on the person and not the disease. The theme also aims to create a sense of community among those impacted by cancer. 

“We want to do everything we can to help support our members when they receive a devastating cancer diagnosis,” said Simone Ndujiuba, PharmD, BCOP, senior director, product development, oncology at Prime. “That means working to simplify the traditional pharmacy delivery systems, connecting members of the care team to help ensure the patient journey becomes easier to navigate. Most patients worry about how they’ll receive or afford their oncology medications. We’re here to help.”

Thus, Prime introduced its IntegratedRx® – Oncology program. This integrated clinic-to-pharmacy model helps the provider and pharmacist communicate directly and provides members with one central location for their treatment: their care center and its in-house pharmacy. IntegratedRx saves about $4,500 every year per utilizing member, reducing total cost of care by about 9%.² 

Prime also supports cancer research through the American Cancer Society, which is one of Prime’s five strategic charity partners. The organization works to ensure everyone has an opportunity to detect, treat and survive cancer. In 2023, Prime raised $46,527 for the American Cancer Society.
