The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Rochester chapter recognized Marci J Chodroff, MD, FACP, vice president, medical affairs for Magellan Rx Management (Magellan Rx) – a Prime Therapeutics (Prime) company – for her extraordinary achievement of creating a new HBA chapter in Rochester, NY, and growing membership and chapter services against considerable odds.

“Dr. Chodroff exemplifies our value of putting people first inside and outside of work,” said Linda Smith, chief service officer and chief of staff for Magellan Rx. “As a leader bringing next-generation pharmacy care to patients, she’s transforming the health care industry through her professional connections and illuminating possibilities for women in health care.”

Charting a path to a brighter future

One of the brightest minds in health care, Dr. Chodroff was selected for the Everest Award for her perseverance and accomplishments including:

  • Serving as general manager for the HBA Rochester Affiliate throughout the pandemic, while growing membership by 87% and growing member value offerings through expanded chapter services.
  • Creating the new HBA Greater Rochester Affiliate and persisting to achieve official chapter status, recruiting its board members and serving as the new chapter president.
  • Leading the rebranding initiative to introduce HBA Rochester to engage members active in Buffalo and Syracuse and reach more members in Western New York.

Through her HBA service, Dr. Chodroff stands out as a role model for others and serves as a mentor to other women in health care to help support their career development. Next, Dr. Chodroff will serve in a newly appointed position as the first global chair of HBA’s newly formed Patient Centricity Affinity Group.

“The HBA would not exist or continue to grow without dedicated volunteers like Dr. Chodroff who help us work toward our mission of furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of health care,” said Kristy L. Aro, chair, HBA New York Tri-State Region. “Dr. Chodroff is a force of change, and she’s left a lasting impact in our region and the Greater Rochester area.”

The HBA, a Magellan Rx Corporate Partner since 2016, is a global nonprofit organization comprised of individuals and organizations in health care committed to achieving gender parity in leadership positions; providing equitable practices that enable organizations to realize the full potential of women; and facilitating career and business connections to accelerate advancement. The HBA provides recognition to outstanding local volunteers through its awards program.
