Building a house, goodwill and teamwork with Habitat for Humanity

Prime employees put together another successful volunteering season with Habitat for Humanity

September 9, 2019
Hundreds of Prime employees from across Minnesota participated in this summer’s Habitat homebuilding and Brush with Kindness projects.

More than 585 employees spent six weeks and 4,680 volunteer hours helping families build a better life. And they agree, the best part was building relationships with co-workers while giving back to the community.

“It was my second year volunteering with Habitat, and I enjoyed it as much as my first year,” says Santina Uribe, senior business analyst. “It’s a chance to get to know co-workers better, learn a new skill and most importantly, help a family achieve the reality of building their own home.”

From drilling holes to staining wood, our volunteers had a lot of fun with fellow co-workers. “I’m grateful that Prime supports Habitat, and I was proud to wear my PrimeCares shirt at the event,” says Kristi Hocamp, director, project and portfolio management tools. “I enjoyed the team building. And I felt like we made an immediate impact!”

Habitat for Humanity is one of Prime’s selected charities in its PrimeCares program.

PrimeCares helps Prime Therapeutics promote a corporate environment that values teamwork, community involvement and social responsibility by supporting organizations in our community. Other charities include the American Heart Association, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Do, Give, Go program gives employees additional charitable giving options

Prime’s Do, Give Go program encourages additional community involvement by matching qualifying employee activities and donations:

  • Do: Prime will donate $125 to eligible organizations when an employee volunteers 8 hours or more per year ($500 annual maximum per employee).
  • Give: Prime matches 100% of the donations employees give to an eligible organization ($500 annual maximum per employee).
  • Go: Prime donates to eligible organizations when groups of Prime employees participate in a walk/run/bike event ($250 for teams of four employees or $500 for teams of eight or more, no annual maximum).
