Supporting U.S. troops through great leadership

Anne Mack, senior director, network compliance for Prime Therapeutics (Prime), was a key supporter in helping Marcus Caruso complete his obligations as an active member of the military.

Anne MackThis backing inspired Caruso, director, shared services for Prime, to nominate Mack for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s (ESGR) Patriotic Employer award. The U.S. Department of Defense award “reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence.”

When Caruso was called to complete a six-week military training in Missouri, Mack quickly jumped in to provide her full support. Mack seamlessly handled her day-to-day responsibilities while also making sure Caruso’s team had what they needed to be successful while he was at training.

“I have a large team with a wide array of responsibilities,” said Caruso. “I expected to be contacted with questions while I was at training, but Anne had it all covered. I didn’t ever feel I was missing out or falling behind while I was away. It felt good to have her support.”

Receiving this award means a lot to Mack, and she says she’s learned a lot from Caruso. “It’s been a great experience working with Marcus,” Mack said. “I enjoy learning how things work in the military and hearing some of the analogies he has for how things translate from the military to civilian life.”

Mack adds, “Marcus explained that not all employers are supportive of employees serving in the military and that surprised me.”

Caruso will officially present this award to Mack in person later this summer.
