Obesity is a chronic, relapsing condition that requires long-term, comprehensive care. While glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist medications have shown meaningful weight loss in clinical trials, there is limited real-world evidence on outcomes and persistence within care management programs. A recent study by Prime Therapeutics (Prime) assessed changes in weight and body mass index (BMI) for commercially insured adults without diabetes who were enrolled in the structured care management program KeepWell™ over three and six months, as well as six-month persistence, with GLP-1 therapy. This research offers insights into how GLP-1 therapies perform when combined with cardiometabolic care programs, informing how payers and employers can optimize obesity treatment strategies and support sustained outcomes.
