Asthma is a chronic condition of the lungs that affects people of all ages. People with asthma may experience inflammation and muscle tightening around the airways that make it hard to breathe. Symptoms can be mild or severe and may include coughing, chest tightness, shortness of breath or wheezing. Asthma can be managed with proper treatment.
