Sending provider letters is associated with a significant impact on medication adherence
This study looked at members taking drugs in the three CMS Star rating categories: diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. When some of those members became non-adherent, their doctors were sent letters. A significant percentage of the members (up to 16%) whose doctors received letters became adherent again. This simple intervention provided an effective result.
