Prime welcomes 13 summer interns

Prime’s summer internship program provides the opportunity for 13 college juniors and seniors from a variety of backgrounds to learn the ropes at Prime.

Being a Prime intern means being a part of helping people live better lives. Each summer, Prime offers paid, full-time corporate internships to college juniors and seniors who will contribute to the company and gain valuable experience. This summer Prime has 13 interns who come from a variety of backgrounds, including finance, auditing, marketing and pharmacy. They are motivated, enthusiastic and driven to make the most out of the summer.

Welcome from Jim DuCharme

Each internship program kicks off with a welcome event with guest speaker, President and CEO Jim DuCharme. During this summer’s welcome session, Jim had a conversation with the interns about Prime’s passion for a culture of service, unique business and future goals. “Internships are a two-way mirror. We aim to develop a relationship with you, and you get to learn about us,” Jim told the interns.

The interns were eager to ask Jim questions. When asked where he sees Prime in five to 10 years, Jim commented on Prime’s continuous efforts to stay ahead of the competition and shared Prime’s vision for becoming a leader in patient-centered specialty drug management.

Experience a hands-on internship

Prime is committed to growing and developing our interns, especially through our culture of teamwork and service. Like many of this summer’s interns, Kia PeKarna (pictured right), a senior majoring in public relations and communications at Iowa State University, was interested in working at Prime because of our culture. “I feel like I’m a part of something big. I’m helping people on a daily basis,” she says. “People are always working together.”

For interns like Connor Frederick, who works on the pharmacy audit support team, the internship is all about gaining first-hand experience in the field. Connor supports Prime’s on-site auditors and helps review regulation grids. “During my internship, I hope to better understand health care regulation and state legislature. I’m attending St. Thomas Law School in the fall, so having a background in health care will help me grow as a first-year law student,” Connor says.

Our summer internship program is an opportunity for a future with Prime. Kia says that this is the ultimate goal. “As an intern I’m gaining experience and knowledge. I’m getting to network. It’s a huge stepping stone for me and my future.”
