Multiple drug manufacturers create competition which often results in decreased prescription costs. Prime's Maximum Allowable Cost (MAC) program includes a list of multi-source drugs that are reimbursed at an upper limit per unit price. The MAC for each drug is reviewed quarterly by Prime or as needed and updated on the Prime MAC list.
